MESH COMMUNITY NETWORK (UPDATED: April 5, 2008 )
A project to connect 28 students' houses and two public schools to the internet was completed at Mahavilachchiya. Enterprise Technology Pvt. Ltd. (ETPL) did the implementation of the mesh community network. UNDP helped with a grant while Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), Sri Lanka was the facilitator. The mesh community network was officially launched on Saturday, November 04, 2006 by Mr Lalith Weeratunga, the Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) and the Secratary to the President of Sri Lanka.
